im going to be checked out for skin cancer, what can i expect?

im 16 and i have a mole that has started growing abnormally and wa sbleeding when i shaved (it has never bled from shaving before) anyway i have two questions

1. what can i expect for the examination?
2. whe i was a little kid i constantly tried to dig the mole out, could that have made me more at risk?
