There's no blood test for skin cancer, they need to biopsy the area that you or they think could be cancer (a dark patch, a funny looking mole or freckle, etc). They just take a little piece of it off, run some tests on it and let you know if it's cancerous.
And "a few months" ago usually isn't enough time to start showing signs of skin cancer. My father was a carpenter in his early 20's-30's and was in the sun alot but didn't show signs of skin cancer until his 50's... and he's developed 4 cancerous growths since the first one. WEAR SUNSCREEN!!
