Would you get lung cancer or anything else bad like cancer or something and die if you quit smoking because my mom is trying to quit and once she quits smoking I don't want her to die... so please answer my question, thanks.

I hope your mom has quit but let me tell you about my mother. she smoked for 30 years and quit 19 years ago. she found out in Jan that she had lung cancer. stage one we caught it early only because she had a cough but no cold. I made her go see the doctor and I demanded a cat-scan and there it was. they took hot the upper lobe on the right hand side and said they do not usually find too many stage ones. so quit now but always remember there is still that chance. if she ever starts coughing for a period of time has chest pains or back aches take her to her doctor. My mom does not even have to have chemo and the doctors say she should live for many more years.
