Default My 24-year-old son has brain cancer. He needs new friends. Checking 4 support

groups/church. Any suggestions?
Thanks for all the responses! Here's more detail and thanks: I've gone to all traditional cancer sites, he can't read well or type anymore so he's not able to do this. I'm looking for human interaction. We live in Chandler, AZ. Panda gave a couple links I haven't tried. Thanks to all that pray. I believe prayer and his will are that has kept him with me.

Mary, i am so very sorry about your son and his struggle. I can see your "mother's heart", in this request!!

I would think churches would have a wonderful group, in his age group, who would love to spend time, talk or, just listen!! I would go more for this than most things as these people will come to him with REAL concern for him!

There is one thing I can do to help! That is to pray for your precious son and ask God to guide you in helping him through this battle. I ask God to be with you and all who are around him and love him. I will pray for God's will to be done in all things and for there to be a way for fellowship, with those who truly care!

If you ever need to talk, please e-mail me...we have more in common than I wrote! Know you all are in my prayers!

My aunt died of a brain tumor... She was older so she didn't have the recovery factor of a youth like your son!

*HUG*

We are ALL here for you and him!!

If he gets depressed there is a spectacular online discussion board I use called http://www.Allaboutcounseling.com

They have a range of people like you can’t imagine!

I can honestly say that these people have saved my life more times then I can count!!

Go to the Discussions Page… That is where you put your questions, stories, or just “Hi!”.

You need to sign up (Free) but after that you are free to do whatever you want.

I’ll say it again… These people have saved my life… I TRULY hope that you and/or your son go here when you just need to talk… There are people here to help 24/7.

Something else… I know it is off topic but if he hasn’t started treatment yet check the laws of your state regarding the medicinal use of Marijuana…

It isn’t a myth… It is a LIFE SAVER…

My father is anti-drug but when he saw what my aunt was going through he, himself, went out and bought it for her. It made her treatment tolerable… Honestly…

My friend in Arizona who was going through chemo told me that he figured that if he gets busted by the cops then the State will need to pay for his treatment so there was no “loss”.

It was what kept up his will to fight after he experienced the treatment without it…

Please look into your state laws and see if you can get it legally… And if not then all he has to do is ask a friend or two and they will get him some… It isn’t a “Recreational Drug” when it is the only thing that allows you to continue your treatment!!!!

My thoughts are with you and yours!!

I am really sorry to hear about your son. I am not sure about groups in your area. Maybe if you have a private word with doctors/nurses i am sure they might be able to give you help and advice on support groups in your area. They may have groups specifically for people who are in the same position, which could be of help. Good Luck.
