My elderly father-in-law has just realised that the rainwater he'd collected to water his runner beans ran from his asbestos roof on his old garage.
Any information is gratefully received.

Asbestos cement is relatively stable and does not release dangerous fibres unless cut, sawn or broken.
It should not cause a problem.
The beans will be safe to eat.
However, having identified a risk, however small, it would be sensible to stop using this rainwater.
If the roof covering is changed, the asbestos has to be taken to an approved dump.

You could eat asbestos and it would be fine - might scratch a bit on the way out!

Breathing in the dust from asbestos is dangerous bit.

Your gonna end up with fire proof tatties.
