I know a 49 yr old male with several symptoms. The symptoms started in February. He had gallbladder removed in June hoping it would relieve the symptoms, but it did not.
Symptoms over the past 6 months include:
Quite severe upper abdominal pain, burning and a bloating feeling - which makes him not want to eat -sometimes the upper abdominal pain feels like its going into the back.
He has lost 32 pounds in the last 6 months.
He has lots of gas (presence of excessive stomach gas confirmed on ultrasound).
He has had CT Scans (multiple times), Abdominal Ultrasound, MRI of the abdomen and most recently a PET SCAN. All scans have been normal, however..the most recent PET Scan showed a small pulmonary nodule which came up as 'suspicious' of early malignancy on the PET. He had a lung scan in 08/06 and it was clear.
My questions are: If he had something such as pancreas cancer what are the chances it didnt show up on the tests? Do you know anything else that could cause these symptoms?
Also, I wanted to add: He has been to several doctors and specialists and none have been able to find an answer or be able to help. If anyone has ANY suggestions we would love to hear them.
